RE: Paxtang 100th Anniversary Celebration – July 2014
This is a brief update to the buzz around town!
Our next meeting for planning and committee sign-ups will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm at Paxton Presbyterian Church. The last meeting of 2012 will be held on 12/12/12, we hope to see you. More details below.
House Tour (Sun. September 15, 2013 1pm) Update:
Bonnie Snodgrass has done an excellent job at pulling together the homes for the tour. Four Paxtang Avenue Families/Homes have agreed to show so far. Marisa Puliti has offered to do the drawings of the homes. Don is working on the solicitation forms. We need a good team in place to move forward. These are the current folks who offered to help so far: Suzanne, Nate, Wendy, Ron and a few expert tour folks. This will be a fundraiser to raise money for the 100th Anniversary Celebration Activities. Volunteers, Sponsors and Ticket sales will be very important. To help, reply to this email!
Meeting Updates:
1) The regular bi-monthly Committee Meeting was held on September 12, 2012, meeting attendance was 12.
2) An Executive Committee Meeting RE: Publicity was held on September 22, 2012 (7:30 am – 9:00 am.) with Don Follett re: solicitation.
3) An Audio-Visual Subcommittee Meeting was held on October 3, 2012 at 7:30 pm with Keldeen, Nate Martin and Wendy re: 100th anniversary website.
4) Countless emails and phone conversations with amazing folks and many ideas are on file as well.
Thanks and Gratitude goes to everyone involved … since our last meeting, we thank:
1) Bonnie Snodgrass: we now have homes to tour. You Rock!
2) Paxton Presbyterian Church: for allowing future meeting dates.
3) Dan Keich: t-shirt logo design and being prepared for future shirt sales.
4) Don Follett: solicitation is under way – GO – GO – GO DON!
5) Suzanne Patackis: events are lining up nicely!
6) Kimberly Hess: Set-up the Monday, March 18, 2013 - Friendly’s Fundraiser at High Pointe shopping center (off Eisenhower Blvd.) from 4pm-9pm.
7) Nathan Martin: the 100th Anniversary website is almost ready to be launched. Then off we go! (Loraine thanks for pushing forward)
With the 100th Anniversary of Paxtang Borough quickly approaching, we have many activities scheduled for July 2014 weekend. There will be the annual parade, a formal dinner, a wide variety of tours and speakers and more throughout the community, as part of the celebration weekend. We encourage you to become a part of this historic event and invest in the history and future of our “Paxtang Proud” community.
You do not need to be a resident to take part in any activity scheduled for the 100th Anniversary Celebration.

2013 Committee Dates: (2013 Jan-Nov) will be the 4th Wednesday of every month at 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm (The Dec. 2013 meeting will be on 12/4). Location: Paxton Presbyterian Church, 3500 Sharon Street, Harrisburg, PA 17111 Note: Parking is available in the large lot adjacent to the main (glass enclosed) entrance which is also handicapped accessible. We will meet at the main entrance off of Sharon St. As you enter the main entrance, there’s a room at the bottom of the stairs, on your right and this will be our meeting location.
